This is a personal bike of mine I restored recently. It is a very early 1990's Specialized Hardrock. The photos where taken on a ride near my house here in Gurnee in the Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve. Since the photos where taken I replaced the tires with more of a road type tire. The knobby MTB tires where unnecessary for the pavement getting there and the lime stone paths in the preserve. I am new to the area and am not use to have so many trails like Lake County has, it is fun.
I had the frame media blasted and powder coated in Milwaukee before we moved here. I have more planes for upgrades, but for now this is where it stands. The restoration can be seen at http://johns-recycled-bicycle.blogspot.com/2012/06/early-90s-specialized-hard-rock-for-me.html, my restoration blog. I actually bought a Bianchi mountain bike from 1988 of Craigslist for $40 just to get the crank. I hated the stamped metal crank that was original to the bike. I added the rear Bontragger deluxe rack and matching water bottle cages to stick with the white, chrome and leather theme. I really like this bike, and the ride. It probably belongs in the Mountain Bike and Commuter Bike section. I will update it as I do more.
Thanks for looking,
John Z.
